numbers, polar bears, mucous and mirror drawings

Indigo started the Number recognition game with Jolson and I.
She has a number we don't know and we have to guess it.
We choose a random number and she gives us a symbol for correct or wrong.
Today it was s for Santa as correct and r for Reindeer for wrong. A bit like that mastermind colour guessing game.
We had a discussion about polar bears after seeing the bear on an ice pack I used for my injured finger.
Polar bears are carnivores. They eat meat. They eat fish and seals. They live in the arctic circle.They are white so they can camouflage in the snow.They make noises to comunicate with other polar bears. For example one ploar bear might make a sound like oroo it could mean hello.

We drew on the mirror and the drawing was ERASABLE!We could draw our faces on the mirror alot easyer than drawing it on paper because we had our reflection to copy from.Indigo had too close one eye to make it easyer to copy because she couldn't see that well when she had that eye open.

The last thing which is the first thing is mucous because Indigo an dJolson have a cold. They learnt that it is normal to have a bit of clear stuff up your nose to collect dust particles and changes colour to yellow or green when it is catching bugs/germs/bacteria.

Science Experiment

You will need: 2 colours food dye,1/2 cup milk, bowl, spoon and drinking straw

what to do:

1. Put milk in bowl.
2. Add 2 drops of each colour food dye into the milk.
3. Slightly mix with spoon.
4. Blow air onto milk
5. Let it sit for 5 minutes.

Result: milk went pink and looked stary

Today we are doing a day off school as home school. Indi said she was sick and Lilly was sick in the head....emotionally I think.

First we did the where are we activity. Imagining we have just been plonked where we are. How can we work out where we are?
Number plates and phone numbers answered the question today.
So we drove to Bunnings to get potting mix to plant some citrus trees we have along with new seedilings.
Lilly worked out how many bags of mix were needed if our tubs are 60L each. We got mushroom compost and general potting mix.
The seedlings are thyme, strawberry and spinach. They are planted into a low, lined hesian planter.
Lunch time now before painting..mixing primary colours.
